Applying for numerous jobs and not getting a single interview?

Your résumé could either OPEN DOORS - or SHUT DOORS for you.

Your résumé is your first introduction to an employer or a recruiter.

Does your résumé make a winning first impression?

Your résumé is your first and sometimes only opportunity to make a good first impression. Getting the chance to sell yourself at an interview depends how you present yourself in writing. Your future livelihood depends on it!

Standing Out & Getting the Interview

The best jobs attract a lot of applications and competition is fierce. Nowadays applying on-line and attaching a résumé and covering letter is pretty much standard. So making the recipient view you favourably and give you the chance to meet them depends on a few things.

ˇ The initial presentation - badly presented and unprofessional looking résumés do not even get read.

ˇ Is there a covering letter explaining why you are relevant to that particular position? If it is a standard letter that does not address the job requirements your résumé document may not even get opened.  Your letter should create interest and a desire for the employer to seriously consider interviewing you.

ˇ The format and order of how your résumé is put together should be targeted at the industry you are applying to.

ˇ It cannot include spelling mistakes and bad grammar it makes you seem careless.

Résumés that are too long are regularly overlooked, so it's important to sell your relevant experience quickly and succinctly.  At the same time, don't undersell yourself by sticking to the "2 page rule"!

Having been a Recruiter, Manager and Employer for over 20 years, I've read, reviewed and rejected thousands of résumés.
